Robin Day 661 Chairs 1951

Three superb examples of Day’s iconic 661 chairs originally designed for the dining area in the newly built Royal Festival Hall for the Festival of Britain 1951. These have been completely restored with re-lacquered mahogany/sycamore veneered bent plywood and re-finished steel rod legs.
They are re- upholstered using ‘Mourne’ textile designed by modernist weaver Gerd Hay-Edie as originally specified by Day for manufacture ‘Hille’.

It’s difficult to source even one of these chairs now so three matching are a rarity.
